Art on Film

A new project has commenced at the Artful Dogder's Studio in Collingwood, just down from what has come to be known as the Paris-end of Smith Street.

Art on Film gives artists at the Artful Dodger's Studio the opportunity of taking their art practice into film and video. We will be working towards an art exhibition of video and film in August 2005.

The films will be experimental, played as loops, on screens and accompanied by sound tracks also created by artists in the studio. Project officers Kirsty and Zoe will be in the studio on Thursdays assisting artists in realising their ideas.

Regular screenings of experimental film and excursions to art galleries screening moving image art will occur during the year.

Also a professional cinematographer and equipment will be hired to shoot projects on film and/or video. The films will be edited in the studio. The films will also be made viewable on DVD and on the JSS website.

Do you know of any books about the history specific to that area and will the film be accessible to the public?
my mother grew up in Smith Street (89 years ago)
